About

Miranda, potter and founder of Blooming Lotus Pottery

Hi, I’m Miranda!

I’m a mom of four, a lifelong creative, and someone who believes it’s never too late to rediscover who you are.

My journey with clay began years ago. I fell in love with ceramics in high school classes, and later at community college in the early 2000s. Life, however, had other plans. Before I finished my degree, I entered the workforce, putting my education, and my artistic dreams, on hold.

Starting over

Like many people, my path wasn’t exactly straight. After navigating a difficult marriage and eventually a divorce, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life: I went back to college. Returning to school as an adult while raising four children wasn’t easy, but it was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I proudly earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, proving to myself that it’s never too late to start over or chase a dream.

Finding clay again

A couple of years ago, I bought myself a pottery wheel. The moment my hands touched clay again, I knew I had found a missing piece of myself. Creating brought back the joy, peace and sense of purpose I had felt all those years ago, and what started as reconnecting with an old hobby quickly became a true passion.

Where I’m headed

Today I’m a graduate student in a clinical counseling master’s program. My goal is to become a licensed clinical counselor and combine my love for helping people with my love for ceramics by opening an art therapy practice. I believe creativity has an incredible ability to heal, connect, and give voice to emotions that are often hard to put into words.

Until that dream becomes reality, I’m sharing my work with the world one piece at a time.

Much like people, no two pieces are exactly alike. Each one tells its own story.

Every mug, bowl, planter and handmade piece that leaves my studio is made by hand with care, intention, and the hope that it becomes part of someone’s everyday life. I embrace the little imperfections that make handmade pottery so special.

Thank you for supporting my small business and letting me be a small part of your home. Your support isn’t just helping me build a business, it’s helping me build a dream.

I’m so glad you’re here.
